~PIKES PLACE MARKET~

I visited the famous Pike's Place Market in Seattle a couple weeks ago. Wanted to share some photos from there. The Market overlooks Elliott Bay waterfront in Seattle, Washington. It opened in 1907, is one of the oldest continually-operated public farmer's markets in the country and it covers nine acres.

This is only a part of the abundance of food at Pike's Place. There was much more than food also ... handicrafts of every sort - handmade clothes, sculptures, paintings, glassware, street performers...too much to see in the time we had there.

This was just as the fishmonger was letting go of a large fish that was to come flying over my head. I was so nervous that I didn't get the photo of it coming my way. A friend was ready to take a photo from the side and just as she snapped a man walked in front of her. You may have seen the flying fish on HGTV. It gave us quite a laugh.

Thank you both for your lovely comments.

Penny, I'm a North Carolina girl, like you! I just visited Pike's Place in Washington State when I went with my husband on his business trip.

Oh! I would love to go to that Famers Market. I love the fresh fruit and vegetables. So much better than the store bought ones.

I love visiting this market too Deborah, only one that surpasses it is Granville in Vancouver!!

I'm starting slowly to declutter - headed to the North Ral. Ministries Thrift shop again today with my second load this week! Went through dishes, glasses etc. last evening and have two boxes of stuff I can definitely live without- I think! Earlier load was clothes - OMG I have far too many clothes! It's tough deciding what one has loved and must lose - but I don't ever want to be faced with a house move and have to do it all then, if you know what I mean!

I plan to stop by SuzAnna's Holiday Open House this evening after picking up Bob at RDU. Are you interested - if so I should be there around 6:30 p.m. No, no, no - will try hard not to buy a thing, just visit with the gals and have a drink/nibble!!
