~Finding Pinks~

Hubby and I, my brother and his wife went treasure hunting this past weekend. I had my camera and told my sister-in-law about Pink Saturday. She had so much fun looking for pinks and setting up vignettes for me to photograph. Here's some of what we found. I'll be posting more of our finds next Saturday. Thanks, Teresa!

I think this little pair of pink shoes was our favorite of all we saw that day.

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY TO YOU ALL!

Holy Cow!

Wiktionary, the free dictionary:
"Holy cow - an exclamation of surprise"

...and was I ever surprised to see a cow this huge! I'm not sure what kind it is...perhaps a Holstein? If you know, please tell me.

Oh yes! We are here for Friday's Family Foto, aren't we? Well, next to that gigantic creature is my cousin. While he lived in Californa, he raised several different kinds of animals - some exotic. You may not be able to see him very well...but I just HAD to show you this big ol' cow!!

Now let's mooooove on along to see who has invited us to visit them today.

“Happiness is:
Looking in a mirror
and liking what you see”

I love going through pictures to find those I want to post each Friday. I find some treasures that I haven't seen for a while and each brings back memories.

Today...well, you probably know that this is granddaughter Kathryn. I hope you don't tire of her. She has always been so photogenic. Her pictures are just so darn cute!

These were taken when she spent the night with Granddaddy and me when she was around eighteen months years old. She's almost six and a half now. Granddaddy sat her up on the bathroom sink after pulling her out of the tub. She got such a kick out of looking in the mirror. Look at her pointing at herself in the second photo. She is such a doll baby.

Photographs reflect times remembered and love of family. This Friday these ladies are sharing their memories and love through their family photos.
Check them out. They are extending a warm welcome to you.

Please leave a comment to let them know you were there.

I FEEL LIKE A PRINCESS!

I do, I really do! I feel like a princess! You see, this beautiful shoe was bestowed upon me by my beautiful French-Canadian blogsister, Claudie. Cinderella has a fairy godmother...I have a fair blogsister. Very fair she is and when I'm around her, I always hear music...hmmm, strange thing, isn't it?

What? You ask if she has a magic wand? Why, yes she does!. Claudie has a magic bubble wand! Her heart is always 'Bubblin' Over" with laughter and love. Claudie is so generous with her love that she's asked that this shoe be fitted on every gal in Blogland...and given to any deemed fit...or any whom the shoe fits.

Now, it with great pleasure that I present these three lovely ladies. They have tried on the shoe and the shoe fits!

The Duchess...ah! already royalty is she...and from Holland! We both find inspiration in stardust fairies and Miss Beatrix Potter...even our banners are quite alike. She has a most enchanted blog! Enjoy your shoe, M'lady!

Madame Anita of Castles, Crowns and Cottages will give you the royal treatment. She gives French lessons and she is a new resident in Blogland! ... and she already owns a crown! Welcome to our friendly kingdom and the shoe - Ça te va bien!

Vanessa of Vanilla Lavender will be our Brazilian princess. Each night she holds the 'Moon' in her arms, she is bubbly and her smile is enough to light up all of Blogland. Wear your shoe well, my princess.

My fairy godsister, Claudie, asks that the three of you seek out three others worthy of this magical shoe.

I invite all in Blogland to visit these royal bloggers and congratulate them.

~Kissin' Cousins~

For this weekend of love, I would like to share these favorite family photos.

These are from around 1947. My first cousin and I were very close in age and he was probably my very best friend when we were so very young. At the age of twelve, my family moved out of state and at around 18, he joined the Navy. After the Navy, he stayed in California and lived there until about four years years ago when he and his wife moved back east. I saw him for the first time in forty years around three years ago.

All my cousins are very dear to me and some of us have talked about how we are more like siblings than cousins...and it's true. We are separated by distance, but always in each other's thoughts and hearts.

Each week a few of us get together every Friday to share some of our favorite family photos. If you would like to join us, please email me (on my sidebar).

Show your love by visiting these friends of mine to see what they have posted today.

Picnics and Cookouts
~
Friday's Favorite Family Foto

Apparently my family liked to have picnics and cookouts back in the 1920's. I remember when I was a child...NOT in the 1920's...going on picnics with my parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents. There was plenty of food and music. My dad and uncles played guitars and mandolins. Many photos I've found of those get-togethers show one of those musical instruments. Some of those picnics were near running creeks in beautiful West Virginia and I remember our car being driven right into the water and what fun it was to wash it there.
The photo above is apparently of a cookout. My great aunt Kate and uncle Roe are the couple in the middle. She's holding a frypan.

This is my great aunt Kate with some of the kids in the family...nieces and nephews - she had no children of her own. My dad is the boy standing on the left in this photo and his older brother is on the right. My uncle - on the right - was in an earlier Family Foto...he was the boxer.

I love old photos and I hope you all enjoy seeing them.

Let's go see what my friends have posted as their family photos today. Don't forget to leave a comment so they will know you visited.

I apologize to all those I didn't get to on Pink Saturday. My computer was down and I'm now able to get back online as of just a couple hours ago.
