~That's what little girls are made of?~

OOOOH! What's that?

Look! It's a yucky buggy!

See what I found, Granddaddy!!

The was one of Kathryn's first encounters with a 'bug'.
She spotted this grasshopper on the outside of our door and was fasicinated. I love the last of these pictures where she is telling her Granddaddy what she's found.

Kathryn is six years old now and a girlier girl would be hard to find. However, when it comes to insects and worms and such, she is still fascinated and is usually on the hunt for them when she is outside.

I remember waiting to pick her up at her school last year.
I watched her class outside for playtime.
All, but one little girl, were running and playing...that was Kathryn. She was off by herself, eyes to the ground, searching for bugs.

She has held a hissing Madagascar cockroach
(I shuddered as I typed that!)
and snatched flies in flight.
Once she finds a worm or caterpillar,
she will carry it around, studying it intently.

Do you think we have a little entomologist in the making?

I wonder what photos my friends are showing today.
Let's go see!

Ok that's yucky for sure. I was waiting up for you. A long lost friend emailed me today and I'm still in shock & had to write her a very long letter.
Love that little cutie pie.
As for my foto? I was laughing my head off. I never thought to explain the "melting of the ice". They don't make a fire on the ice, they have little pot belly stoves like in a house. It gets pretty toasty in there, therefor the guys aren't wearing jackets. Oh I can't stop laughing. I must be tired, it's late.
So glad your ok
Love you Bee

Deborah, she is a beauty. And, she is much braver with bugs than me. I am not a bug lover.

How sweet! She reminds me of my Britnee. Britnee is really a girly girl, but she does not mind bugs or lizards.

Deborah, your photos are so adorable. How lucky that you had your camera ready to shoot these sweet shots of your grand dtr. I hope she doesn't grab a bee or something. Her interest in bugs is a hoot. spiders can be bad also. Listen to me, a silly Grandma here worried about bugs. Can you tell I hate bugs. Smile.

Hugs...Jeanne

When my now 11 yr old daughter was little she would scream if a bug even touched her. Now we live in the country. The neighbor has all of the barnyard animals along with some flies that will wonder over to our house. My 4 yr old son loves bugs. He absolutely loved it this past summer when the cicadas came out. I have a lot of pictures of him with those bugs. They were great! Very loud though!!! They gave me a headache they were so loud at times.
Take care,
Angela

What sweet pictures of your little girl. I am wishing for a little granddaughter one of these days. My daughter will be married 3 years this August and I know she wants to start a family very badly--who knows? This could be the year! Thanks for sharing and hosting this event.

Etomologist in a fairy dress, perfect!! She's welcome in my garden anytime.
These are such cute pics Deborah, especially where she's looking up at Larry!

Gosh, did you read the news from Anna in today's newsletter? That's a surprise - however she did say there were many changes coming at SuzAnna's!

Any news about dear you? Let me know.
Hugs for a great weekend -
Love, Mary.

Deborah, she looks so sweet, especially when she is telling her grandfather about the bugs. I'll bet you take pictures of her all the time (I know I would).

Isn't she smart? Perhaps she is a budding entymologist. I am always reminded that we shouldn't imprint our own preferences on our kids, and let them discover the wonders of the world without prejudging.
