~Winter Visitors~

We just filled out feeders this past weekend.
Our feathered friends were most happy to see that happen.
As we were putting out a feast for them, the birds flocked to the nearby trees, chirping and spreading the word to others.
They could barely wait for us to return to our own nest so they would feel safe enough to descend upon the seed.

Once we went inside, this little guy so happily sang for us - loudly!
He expressed his gratitude with melody.

As always Red Head hogged this feeder.

Christmas Eve day we had a yard full of deer.
Most were lounging in the sun that warmed the clearing.
Older ones were roaming the woods and making a meal of the ivy that covers a lot of our back property. I couldn't capture them with my camera. They were mostly camouflaged by the wooded area.

This little beauty was munching on a tree.

A young one.

Coming into the clearing.

I think they heard me.

Part of the herd relaxing and grooming.

Just hanging out.

Deborah, your post is amazing capturing the birds and deer in such a beautiful way. I am always hesitant to put out birdseed because of the bears. They love birdseed and we found that out when a bear came on our deck to raid the birdseed we had in a covered can on the deck. He came back twice looking for more. LOL.
I bet you had a wonderful time taking those photos.

I hope you are feeling well. I haven't heard any more.

Hugs to you...Jeanne

Hi Deborah!

I love just watching the wildlife in my yard, too. I don't even mind if the deer eat a few of my roses... Thanks for sharing your beautiful pics.

Now I know why your back garden is a natural area - guess with that many Bambi family members visiting you wouldn't have many plants left!!! So cute though and a lot safer than Jeanne's bears, goodness they would scare me!!!!

Deborah, lovely chatting with last night - hope everything goes well today.

You are in our thoughts -
Hugs, Mary.

You always have such wonderful fauna visiting your home. All we get here are cockroaches and mice. Well, okay, we get cardinals and plovers and mynahs and sparrows and doves too, but it's nothing like the winter magic you photograph!

Deborah, these photos are wonderful. My mother gets so excited when she sees deer, but it is an extremely rare event in our neighborhood.

I hope your tests went well today.

Ahhhh Deborah. I'm in ahh looking at your beautiful post tonight.
Another thing I did not know, you live close to Bambie & all his furry friends? WOW. I'm glad you have your feeders out. That little one with it's beak opened, singing his beautiful song for you is saying thanks.
Hope all went well today. I'm thinking of you.

I love watching the birds. My favorite to watch are Cardinals in the snow. We have a Woodpecker that returns every Spring. We also get Barn Swallows in the Spring that try to nest up under our porch. I have one of those fake owls but I'm not sure he does his job very well. I usually have to shoo them away.

The deer are so cute. We get plenty in our yard too. My friend has some that come up onto her porch every morning and help themselves to her dog's food.
